I've just noticed that some hyperlinks in recent posts don't work in RSS feed readers, in particular bloglines and the reader in Internet Explorer 7.
Rest assured, the links are working in the original blog. I'll try to find out what the problem is.

Fibroids
The United States Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality have published Management of Uterine Fibroids: An Update of the Evidence.
They found a dearth of high-quality evidence supporting the effectiveness of most interventions for uterine fibroids, and concluded: "The current state of the literature does not permit definitive conclusions about benefit, harm, or relative costs to help guide women’s choices. Significant research gaps include well-conducted trials in U.S. populations that directly compare interventions on short- and, especially, long-term outcomes, studies on therapeutics for medical management, and information on treatment decisions for women who desire a pregnancy."

How to reduce anxiety at colposcopy
A newly published systematic review has found that anxiety appears to be reduced by playing music during colposcopy, showing information videos prior to colposcopy and viewing video colposcopy during the procedure. Although information leaflets did not reduce anxiety levels, they did increase knowledge levels and so are useful in obtaining clinical consent to the colposcopic procedure.

Limited evidence for botulinum toxin for overactive bladder
Duthie et al have reviewed the evidence, in the form of 8 studies, and found:
"Intravesical botulinum toxin shows promise as a therapy for overactive bladder symptoms, but as yet too little controlled trial data exist on benefits and safety compared with other interventions, or with placebo. Practitioners should be aware that at present there is little more than anecdotal evidence, in the form of case reports to support the efficacy of intravesical botulinum toxin; there is not much in the way of substantial, robust safety data. Furthermore, the optimal dose of botulinum toxin for efficacy and safety has not yet been demonstrated."

No definite evidence for behavioural interventions for dysmenorrhoea
A new Cochrane review has found there is some evidence from five RCTs that behavioural interventions may be effective for dysmenorrhoea. However results should be viewed with caution as they varied greatly between trials due to inconsistency in the reporting of data, small trial size, poor methodological quality and age of the trials.
